Chuck Amen Honored with Prestigious Dan Smith Lifetime Achievement Award by the NPTC

We would like to share with you that Chuck Amen has recently been honored with the prestigious Dan Smith Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Private Truck Council.

The award honors an individual who has made significant leadership contributions to the NPTC in helping advance the goals and objectives of the Council, and whose personal traits of honor, integrity, tenacity, and devotion to duty in making these contributions serve as an exemplary model for future NPTC-member private fleet professionals, according to the NPTC website. The award is named after former NPTC Chairman and inaugural honoree, Dan Smith. 

Chuck, our Transportation Operations Manager has been a pillar of excellence in the transportation industry for over 30 years. His dedication and commitment to his work have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by this well-deserved recognition.

Since joining Hillyard in 2001, Chuck has demonstrated exceptional leadership in overseeing our private fleet operations. His responsibilities include managing deliveries to 29 distribution centers and over 100 independent distributors across 48 states. Chuck's wealth of experience and expertise has been instrumental in the success of our transportation operations.

Moreover, Chuck's contributions extend beyond his role at Hillyard. He has been actively involved with the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) for over 15 years, showcasing his passion for advancing the industry. Chuck obtained his Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) designation in 2008 and has since been a vocal advocate for the CTP program. He has mentored and encouraged numerous individuals to pursue certification through the Private Fleet Management Institute and CTP programs.

Chuck's dedication to sharing his knowledge and expertise is further exemplified through his participation as a speaker at various industry events, including the NPTC Annual Conference, National Safety Conference, and Keller webcast series. His insights and guidance have undoubtedly made a significant impact on the professional development of many within the transportation community.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Chuck was elected to the NPTC Board of Directors in 2014 and subsequently appointed to the Executive Committee, serving as Board Secretary in 2020 before assuming the role of Board Chair in 2022. His leadership and strategic vision have been invaluable in shaping the direction of the council.
